On the European market more and more new psychoactive substances that mimic the effects of controlled drugs can be found. The synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic cathinones together make nearly two-thirds of new drugs. They are sold as a legal substitutes for marijuana and stimulants. Although they contain a label that they are not for human consumption, the rate of abuse in the world is growing rapidly, especially among adolescents. Synthetic cannabinoids appear as herbal blends, powders or resins. They are the active ingredients of drugs called "Spice". Whereas they are in use for a short time, there is still no sufficient literature data on toxicity, pharmacological action and metabolism. Neither synthetic cathinones still have not been adequately investigated. These are derivatives of cathinones, psychoactive compounds that are structurally closest to amphetamine. They are available as a white or pale yellow powder. The aim of this study was to investigate how much people are informed about new psychoactive substances, especially synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic cathinones cathinones, and are they consumed. The study included 61 participants - 33 males and 28 females aged 15-35 years. An anonymous survey of 18 questions was made for the study and then shared into social networks. The results showed that young people aged 15-21, ie adolescents, make the largest number of those who use new psychoactive substances, respectively synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic cathinones. Also, most of the participants have little awareness about new drugs, which means that in the media, schools, internet and literature more attention should be paid to this issue.
