Abstract
Karcinom debelog crijeva zloćudni je tumor čija je incidencija u porastu. Po učestalosti, nalazi se na trećem mjestu kod muškaraca te drugom mjestu u žena. Može se podijeliti na nasljedne i nenasljedne karcinome. Veliku skupinu čine upravo nenasljedni karcinomi debelog crijeva do kojih dovodi određeni obrazac životnih navika, uključujući i prehrambene navike. Prihvaćanje zapadnjačkog načina prehrane, nedovoljna fizička aktivnost te pretilost, kao rezultat prethodno navedenog, neki su od čimbenika rizika koji su doprinijeli porastu incidencije. To su ujedno i čimbenici na koje se može utjecati i time unaprijediti zdravlje. Određen tip prehrane, odnosno životni stil, utječe na prevenciju, pojavnost karcinoma debelog crijeva i tijek bolesti što potvrđuju brojna istraživanja. Procijenjeno je da je prehrana odgovorna za više od trećine smrtnih slučajeva oboljelih od karcinoma. Iz tog su razloga donijete preporuke na temelju informacija koje povezuju prehranu, tjelesnu masu i fizičku aktivnost s ishodima karcinoma, s ciljem primarne i sekundarne prevencije. Najbolja opcija za smanjenje smrtnosti kolorektalnog karcinoma temelji se na ranoj dijagnozi te primarnoj prevenciji s naglaskom na promjeni okolišnih rizičnih čimbenika i onih vezanih uz način života.
Abstract (english)
Colorectal carcinoma is malignant tumor with rising incidence. It is third most common cancer in males and second in females. It can be divided into hereditary and nonhereditary carcinomas. A certain form of life habits, including ones related to diet, leads to nonhereditary carcinomas, a large group of colorectal carcinomas. The adoption of westernized diet, physical inactivity and obesity, as a result of the above, are some of risk factors that have led to the rising incidence. These are also risk factors that that can be modified and this way could improve health. Many researches confirmed that a certain lifestyle and diet have impact on the prevention, incidence of colorectal carcinoma and course of disease. It has been estimated that diet is responsible for more than third of cancer deaths. For that reason recommendations are made based on the evidence linking diet, weight and physical activity to cancer outcomes, promoting primary and secondary prevention. The best option for reducing colorectal carcinoma mortality is based on early diagnosis and primary prevention, focusing on modifying environmental risk factors and ones linked to lifestyle.
