The third most common cause of death in the world is hepatocellular carcinoma due to its extremely malignant nature. The highest percentage of HCC is recorded in Asia. Most cases were recorded in Mongolia. Hepatocellular carcinoma occurs as a result of long-term inflammatory changes caused by chronic B or C infections, with the consequent development of cirrhosis and malignant changes. The occurrence is associated with alcohol, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. Diagnostic methods assess the size of the lesion, while imaging methods such as MR, CT or ultrasound can detect typical clinical features of hepatocellular carcinoma. The most used serum marker for HCC is alpha-fetoprotein. Tumor, node, metastasis (TNM), Okuda system, ALBI system, Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer System (BCLC) and (Liver Cancer Italian Program (CLIP)) are the most commonly used systems for hepatocellular carcinoma staging and survival prediction. Treatment is carried out in case of inoperable cancer with systemic therapy according to Child-Pugh classification. Operable cancer is treated with anatomical or non-anatomical resection. Transplantation is the last treatment option for patients with advanced stage cancer, patients are screened according to Milan criteria.
