Pharmacogenomic testing involves examining the impact of different gene sequence variants on the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs. The goal of this type of genetic testing is to assess an individual's response to medications, predict and avoid side effects, and adjust dosages accordingly. The approach to pharmacogenomic testing generally includes: patient identification, collection of biological material, performing the selected pharmacogenomic test, analysis of the obtained results, overview and interpretation of the results by a specialized physician, and individualization of the treatment strategy. The clinical use of pharmacogenomic testing involves following specific clinical guidelines for administration of medicine after pharmacogenomic testing. Physicians are at that greatly assisted by available online databases that consolidate all relevant evidence-based clinical guidelines. In various European Union countries, including the Republic of Croatia, access to and the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomic testing differ depending on laws, health policies, and resources availability. This graduation thesis provides an overview and comparison of the online offers of pharmacogenomic testing in the Republic of Croatia and Europe. Based on available information, Europe offers a richer selection of pharmacogenomic tests compared to the Republic of Croatia. Regardless, each pharmacogenomic test plays a crucial role in therapy individualization and facilitates the understanding of drug responses based on genetic variations.
