Abstract Samoubilačke tendencije predstavljaju značajan izazov među mladim pojedincima.
ovom pitanju. Prevencija, prepoznavanje, procjena rizika i odgovarajuće liječenje suicidalnosti
i ideja. Nadalje, ti napori dugoročno utječu na ukupnu kvalitetu mentalnog zdravlja
adolescenata. Kada kliničari rade s mladim pojedincima koji doživljavaju psihosocijalne krize,
uvijek moraju imati na umu potencijalnu prisutnost suicidalnih misli i ponašanja. Malobrojni
zaokupljeni trendovima, nerijetko krivim uzorima i smjernicama zbog kojih dobivaju nerealnu
percepciju svijeta oko sebe te kako postati dio tog društva. Pojavnost suicidalnih ideacija,
Abstract (english) Suicidal tendencies pose a significant challenge among young individuals. While they
are commonly associated with underlying psychiatric disorders, they can also emerge as a
result of acute stress reactions or crises during adolescence. It is essential for those involved
in education, prevention, and healthcare to be well-informed about this issue. The prevention,
recognition, assessment of risk, and appropriate treatment of suicidality in all its
manifestations are vital for safeguarding the lives of young people in the midst of suicidal
crises and ideations. Furthermore, these efforts have a long-term impact on the overall mental
health quality of adolescents. When clinicians are working with young individuals experiencing
psychosocial crises, they must always bear in mind the potential presence of suicidal thoughts
and behaviors. There are few experts who know how to adequately deal with this problem,
and there is an increasing incidence of patients with suicidal tendencies in primary care clinics.
With the influence of globalization and accelerated and uncontrolled technological
development, young people are preoccupied with trends, often wrong role models and
guidelines that make them gain an unrealistic perception of the world around them and how
to become part of that society. The incidence of suicidal ideation, cluster suicides, general
anxiety, depression and hopelessness are just some of the examples of the negative effect of
social media and the popularization of trends by celebrities. There are insufficient studies on
suicides and non suicidal self injury, which brings into focus the incompetence of health and
educational institutions in dealing with them. Psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy
and dialectical bihevioral therapy show success in treating and improving the quality of life in
high-risk adolescents, but it is problematic that the current models and programs
implemented in schools and primary health care are often delayed by more than a year when
28
it comes to early detection of suicidal behaviour. Timely recognition of suicidal symptoms and
support provided by family, positive environment and responsible institutions are the only
methods of choice for the assessment and treatment of suicidal behaviour.
