Smoking is one of the biggest public health problems of our time. The main culprit for the harmful effect of smoking is carcinogenic nicotine contained in tobacco smoke. In addition to the well-researched nicotine, today many other particles are known that are contained in the tobacco smoke, and have a very unfavorable, even carcinogenic effects on human health. For that reason, it is understandable that, in addition to finding a solution that would facilitate the process of quitting smoking, often are sought healthier alternatives to smoking. E-cigarettes, as "healthier" version of tobacco cigarettes, quickly became popular among users of the tobacco cigarettes. Because the nicotine, which has a key role in the creation of dependency, is also contained in the e-cigarettes, it is not surprising that many smokers actually replace the conventional cigarette with the electric one. Although many studies have already been published, the right identification and long-term consequences of the use of e-cigarettes, are still not known. Also, considering that it is a new category of product and how e-cigarettes have not been regulated by law, there are many gaps in labeling and categorization of the product itself. With the introduction of the new directive on tobacco products that applies to e-cigarettes, the law wants to regulate the product groups and thus protect the consumers. The "vaping" of e-cigarettes could be the next old dependence of the 21st century and a very serious public health problem, which is supported by the fact that, in a relatively short period of time, it spred among a relatively large number of smokers.
