Infertility is a disease defined by the impossibility of conception within 12 month of unprotected sexual intercourses. Among the many available methods of infertility treatment there is the medically assisted reproduction technology that involves infertility treatment with vitrified oocytes also. Vitrified oocytes are retrieved the same way as the slow-freezed oocytes, but the process consists of rapid freezing with high concentration of cryoprotective solutions, preventing so oocyte cell damage. A retrospective cross-section study has been made at the Department for Human reproduction (tertiary center) of the Clinic for gynaecology and obstetrition, Clinic and Hospital centre of Rijeka, with the purpose of making this graduate thesis. The advantages of infertility treatment with vitrified oocytes are of medical, legal, religious, financial, emotional and personal nature, where the medical advantages of the procedure are confirmed by the review of foreign literature and our study results. Whereas the research has been done on a relatively small sample of patients, further research on a wider patient sample and longer time period are strongly recommended.
