Low back pain syndrome is one of the most common public health problems of today. Pain in the lower back ranks as the first cause of disabilities and inability to work and is expected to affect 90% of the world's population at some point in their lives. Alone spine is part of the axis of the skeleton that carries the full weight of the body due to its structure i.e. it is build as a column consisting of vertebrae and intervertebral discus among them. Pain is most common in neck (cervical) and loin (lumbar) part which is made up of five vertebrae that stand out with its size because it is this part of the spine greatly burdened by body weight and serves the transfer of carcass weight to the pelvic rim. Some sources of pain that cause back pain and / or radiculopathy are rare and most often these changes are affecting more structure. Low back pain often precedes radiculopathy and during the development of back pain syndrome they are usually associated. Predisposing factors in the development of back pain usually consists of psychological factors (stress), mechanical factors (sitting, posture, physical activity) and biological factors (smoking, diet, genetics). This paper’s primary objective was to determine the frequency of back pain syndrome among medical students, and determine the relationship between back pain syndrome and sex, the weekly schedule of learning, and the year of faculty, and that goal is achieved. The hypothesis is partially confirmed and it is found that there is a correlation between lower back pain syndrome and earlier, preclinical years of college, and that there is no connection between back pain syndrome, sex and amount of weekly hours that students spend studing.
