Traumatic injuries of teeth represent a result of acute energy transmission to teeth and surrounding structures. In most cases they do not endanger patient`s life, but they do deprive him in functional and aesthetic sense. When treating tooth injuries an urgent procedure is necessary, including prompt examination, diagnosis and further therapy in aim to preserve the tooth`s vitality and the integrity of surrounding tissues. Follow-ups are needed because of possible occurence of late complications. By reviewing medical documentation of patients treated in Clinical unit for pediatric dentistry and persons with special needs, Clinic for dental medicine, CHC Rijeka in year 2010., 2011. we investigated the frequency of traumatic dental injuries of permanent teeth in children. Gathered results show that traumatic injuries of teeth occur most often in age between 7-12 years, with boys displaying higher rate of trauma than girls.The injury with the highest incidence was uncomplicated crown fracture (44,1%), and maxillary central incisors were the most at risk from trauma (96,7%).
