Abstract
Geografski stomatitis (GS) rijetka je benigna promjena u usnoj šupljini koja se klinički očituje kao eritematozni plak okružen uzdignutim bjelkastim keratotičnim rubom. Svrha ovog rada bila je kroz prikaz slučaja pacijenta i pregled literature prikazati nova saznanja o geografskom stomatitisu. GS je još uvijek nepoznate etiologije iako se često povezuje sa psorijazom, stresom, alergijama i Reiterovim sindromom. Javlja se u svim dobnim skupinama, češće kod muškaraca nego kod žena. U većini slučajeva zahvaća obraznu sluznicu, sluznicu vestibuluma i ventralnu stranu jezika, dok je zahvaćenost gingive, mekog nepca i alveolarne sluznice rjeđa. Obično je asimptomatski, a ukoliko su simptomi prisutni, uglavnom se javljaju prilkom konzumacije tople ili začinjene hrane koja nadražuje sluznicu usne šupljine. Lokalnu terapiju je potrebno ordinirati ukoliko su prisutni simptomi. Pacijentima je potrebno objasniti da je lezija benigna.
Abstract (english)
Geographic stomatitis (GS) is a rare benign condition in the oral cavity which clinically manifests in the form of erythematosus plaque surrounded by a yellow-white keratinization circuitous border. The aim of this work was to show the latest findings about geographic stomatitis, through case report and literature review. Etiology of GS is still unknown; however, it is often associated with psoriasis, stress, allergy and Reiter's syndrome. It may occur at all ages, but it is more common in men than women. In most cases, it affects the buccal mucosa, vestibular mucosa and ventral side of the tongue, however, it rarely develops on the gingiva, soft palate and alveolar mucosa. The condition is usually asymptomatic, but if symptoms do appear, itmainly happens during consumation of hot or spicy food that irritates mucosa of the oral cavity. The therapy is required if the symptoms are present. Patient needs to be fully informed about benignity of the lesion.
