Abstract
Pokrovna proteza je djelomična ili potpuna proteza koja pokriva i leži na jednom ili više sačuvanih prirodnih zuba, sačuvanih korjenova, i/ili dentalnih implantata. Njezin smisao je da se raspodijeli sila kojom baza proteze tlači ne samo područje ležišta konvencionalne totalne proteze (sluznica i pripadajuća koštana podloga), već i preostale zube, korjenove ili dentalne implantate. U posljednjih petnaestak godina, istraživanja su se usmjerila na pronalaženje prihvatljivijih implantološko – protetskih rješenja za potpuno bezube pacijente. Pokrovne proteze poduprte s dva implantata predstavljaju prihvatljivo rješenje – poboljšavaju zadovoljstvo, te unaprjeđuju kvalitetu života pacijenta Danas se mandibularne pokrovne proteze na implantatima smatraju „zlatnim standardom“ u rješavanju problema potpune bezubosti donje čeljusti, a ta je činjenica poznata i pod nazivom „McGill konsenzus“.
Abstract (english)
Overdenture is a partial or complete denture that covers and lies on one or more preserved natural teeth, preserved roots and/or dental implants. The meaning of an overdenture is to distribute the load with which the denture base oppresses not only the area of mucosa and associated bone surface, but the remaining teeth, roots or dental implants. In the last fifteen years, researches were focused on finding acceptable implant - prosthetic solution for fully edentulous patients. Overdentures supported by two implants represent an acceptable solution, they improve satisfaction, and enhance the quality of life of the patient. Today, the mandibular overdenture on dental implants is considered the "gold standard" in solving the problem of complete edentulism of the lower jaw, a fact known as the "McGill consensus."
