Introduction: Malignant skin tumors are divided into non-melanoma tumors and melanoma. The most common cancer is basal cell carcinoma (BCC), followed by squamous cell carcinoma (PCC). Melanoma accounts <5% of all skin tumors. Surgical options include cryosurgery, electrodesiccation and curettage, Mohs' micrographic surgery and standard excision. Surgical treatment is the most common method of treating skin cancers of the head and neck, also for melanoma, and adjuvant therapy is used for patients with metastatic and unresectable melanoma. Materials and methods: This retrospective study includes all patients who were hospitalized and surgically treated at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka in the period from 1st of January 2017 to 31st of December 2017. There were 92 patients included in this study. Results: Both sexes, women (52%) and men (48%) are equally affected. The highest incidence of malignant skin tumors is 75-84 years. Malignant skin cancers usually occur on the nose (26%) and the cheek (21%), the rarest on the eyelid (3%), the neck (3%) and the ear (3%). The most common is basal cell carcinoma (55%), then planocellular carcinoma (32%). Melanoma is present in 6% of cases. The most commonly used method of postseccial defect is local flap (67%).
