Purpose of research paper: To examine QoL in glaucoma patients and investigate the effect of glaucoma on daily life-related activities and the quality of life associated with health in general. Compare the results obtained between the four groups of respondents. Methods: There were 232 respodents involved in the study. They were over 40 years old and resided in the Primorsko – goranska county. One third of the subjects have glaucoma. Testing of respondents was conducted using GQL-15, SF-12, VF-14 questionnaire. Testing was done in family medicine practice. Results: The GQL-15 ranked activities that are most difficult for patients: night-time driving and walking from the light into the darkness. The SF-12 questionnaire analysis suggests that glaucoma patients do not differ from a non-glaucoma-related patient within physical and mental health. Correlation analysis found that older glaucoma patients have lower QoL than younger patients. There was no statistically significant difference between GQL based on the gender. Higher GQL have respondents who live in suburb compared to those in the city. Lower GQL have retired patients. Subjects with glaucoma who also suffer from hypertension have lower GQL. Glaucoma patients have the lowest visual function compared to subjects with another ophthalmologic diagnosis or healthy population. Conclusion: Glaucoma affects negatively on QoL. Older age, city life, retirement and comorbidity affect on GQL negatively. Visual function in glaucoma patients is more disrupted than in subjects with another ophthalmologic diagnosis.
