Abstract
Maksilofacijalna regija obuhvaća područje lica, gornje i donje čeljusti te usne šupljine. S obzirom na svoju izloženost, područje lica uvijek je podložno vanjskim utjecajima i silama te stoga često zahvaćeno traumom. Ovaj rad prikazuje prijelome maksilofacijalne regije na Klinici za maksilofacijalnu kirurgiju KBC Rijeka u četverogodišnjem razdoblju od 1. siječnja 2013. do 31. prosinca 2016. godine. U 287 pacijenata zaprimljenih na Kliniku utvrđena je 391 fraktura maksilofacijalne regije. Osobe muškog spola bile su češće zaprimljivane radi maksilofacijalnih prijeloma, a najčešća etiologija u oba spola bio je pad. Povrede mekih tkiva najčešće su pridružene ozljede, dok je najčešća frakturirana kost mandibula. Približno 60% svih ispitanika liječeno je operativno. S obzirom da je uočen godišnji porast broja maksilofacijalnih prijeloma s najvećom incidencijom u mladih i radno sposobnih, dobiveni rezultati mogu poslužiti u boljem razumijevanju nastanka, pa i prevenciji istih.
Abstract (english)
The maxillofacial region entails the face, the upper and lower jaw and the oral cavity. Given its exposure, the face is always at risk for trauma. This study illustrates maxillofacial fractures on the Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Rijeka, Croatia in the period from January 1st 2013 until December 31st 2016. In 287 examinees, 391 fractures were diagnosed. Men were more frequently impacted with maxillofacial trauma and the most common etiological factor in both sexes were falls. The most common associated injuries were soft tissue injuries, whereas the most frequently fractured bone was the mandible. Approximately 60% of all the examinees were surgically treated. Considering the fact that a yearly increase in maxillofacial fractures has been detected with peak incidence being in young and working age population, the results of this study can help better understand under what circumstances maxillofacial fractures mostly occur and, therefore, help to prevent them.
