Dental loupes and dental operating microscope represent a major breakthrough in modern dental medicine, especially in endodontics. Given the limitations of the human eye, these devices are irreplaceable help in everyday practice. Their appearance in dental medicine has made it easier and quicker to perform some of the procedures, as well as the safety and precision of performing them. The aim of this paper is to present dental loupes and dental operating microscope and describe the application of these optical devices in certain endodontic interventions. Dental loupes and dental operating microscope are extremely helpful in performing endodontic procedures. Starting from the trepanation of the teeth and the finding of root canal openings up to the instrumentation and filling, the optical aids allow the therapist to have a direct visual control of the work under good illumination. More demanding endodontic procedures such as removing broken instruments or endodontic microsurgery are much easier to do with their help. In addition to endodontics, optical aids have found their use in other branches of dental medicine, with particular emphasis on periodontics, prosthetics and oral surgery. It can be concluded that the use of optical devices is a new standard in dental medicine
