Abstract
Legionella je patogena bakterija koja uzrokuje respiratorne bolesti od kojih su najčešće pontijačka groznica i legionarska bolest. Put prijenosa legioneloza je uglavnom kontaminirani aerosol. Stoga su najznačajnija mjesta koja se kontroliraju upravo spa centri i hoteli gdje boravi velik broj ljudi i gdje postoji mnoštvo koja proizvode aerosol. Cilj ovog rada je bio odrediti antibakterijski učinak 11 vrsta hlapivih eteričnih ulja i njihovih sastavnica na L. pneumophila. U svrhu ovog istraživanja koristila se L. pneumophila (soj 130b) koja je uzgajana na BCYE podlozi. Ispitivanje se baziralo na metodi antibakterijskog djelovanja hlapivih komponenti ulja na porast L. pneumophila na BCYE podlozi. Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju različito učinkovito djelovanje hlapivih komponenti eteričnog ulja. Najbolji učinak je pokazalo ulje smilja sa zonom inhibicije 56,3 mm,dok je najslabiji učinak pokazalo ulje plave kamilice sa zonom inhibicije 17 mm. Kod eteričnih ulja tuje i lovora zona inhibicije je izostala. Od kemijskih sastavnica alfa pinen je imao najbolji rezultat sa zonom inhibicije od 66, 5 mm, dok gama terpinen nije imao nikakvo antibakterijsko djelovanje na ovu bakteriju. Zaključno, možemo reći da antibakterijska svojstva ulja uvelike ovise o samom kemijskom sastavu ulja i o sinergističkom djelovanju njegovih kemijskih sastavnica. Na ulja i kemijske sastavnice koje smo mi ispitivali L. pneumophila je pokazala veliku osjetljivost stoga je moguće da u budućnosti eterična ulja nađu primjenu kao alternativni postupci u prevencije legioneloza.

Legionella is a pathogenic bacterium that causes respiratory diseases and the most usual are Pontiac fever and Legionnaire's disease. The route of transsmision of Legionnaires disease is through contaminated aerosol. Therefore, the most important places that are controlled are spas and hotels, where where there a lot of peopleare staying and where a number of equipment that produce the aerosol are present. The objective of this study was to determine the antibacterial effect of 11 different volatile essential oils and their volatile active components to Legionella. L. pneumophila (strain 130b) grown on BCYE agar was used. Testing was based on the method of antibacterial activity of volatile components of the essential oil to inhibit the growth of L. pneumophila. The results showed different effect of the volatile components of the essential oil on Legionella. The best results showed immortelle essential oil with a zone of inhibition of 56.3 mm, while the weakest results showed blue chamomile oil with a zone of inhibition of 17 mm. Inhibition zone was absent for the thuja and laurel essential oils . The chemical components alpha pinene had the best result with the inhibition zone of66, 5 mm, while gamma terpinene had no antibacterial activity on Legionella pneumophila . In conclusion, the antibacterial properties of essential oils depends on the chemical composition of the oil and the synergistic effect of its chemical constituents. L. pneumophila showed great sensitivity to tested essential oil and it could found application as alternative method for prevention of legionellosis.
