Abstract
Cilj završnog rada je utvrđivanje prisutnosti određenih mikroorganizama i kako promjena istih za vrijeme ortodontske terapije utječe na oralnu mikrofloru. U radu je obrađeno 8 članaka. Ispitivanja su se vršila na raznim dobnim skupinama gdje je obuhvaćen pregled prije, za vrijeme i nakon ortodontske terapije. Obradom navedenih članaka utvrđene su promjene u oralnom okruženju zbog higijensko – prehrambenih navika. Očigledno je da će kod pacijenata koji su u ortodontskoj terapiji doći do porasta broja kariogenih bakterija poput S. mutans u usnoj šupljini te do kvalitativnih promjena dentobakterijskog plaka. Dolazi i do promjena u količini slini te njenom puferskom kapacitetu. Ipak uz uspostavljanje urednih oralno-higijenskih navika promjene na parodontnim tkivima se uspijevaju kontrolirati tijekom ortodontske terapije fiksnom edgewise napravom. Održavanje oralne higijene i redovito kontroliranje pacijenata u ortodontskoj terapiji ključno je za zadržavanje oralnog zdravlja.
Abstract (english)
The purpose of the final thesis was to determine the presence of certain microorganisms and how their change during orthodontic treatment affects the oral microflora. The final thesis elaborated 8 articles. Studies were performed at various age groups and examinees were examined before, during and after orthodontic treatment. During the process, detailed instructions on oral hygiene were given. The processing of these articles identified changes in the oral environment due to hygienic and eating habits. It seem obvious that patients undergoing orthodontic treatment demonstrate an increase in cariogenic bacterial count such as S. mutans count and qualitative changes in dental plaque. Changes in salivary flow and saliva buffer capacity were observed. However, when oral hygiene habits are properly followed, periodontal disease is under control during orthodontic treatment. Maintenance of oral hygiene and regular orthodontic and dental follow-up of patients is key to preserving the oral health.
