Abstract
Oralno zdravlje vrlo je važan faktor općeg zdravlja. Kako bi oralno zdravlje bilo dobro, potrebno je kvalitetno održavati oralnu higijenu i stvarati dobre prehrambene, ali i životne navike. Veliku ulogu u tome uz stomatologa i dentalnog higijeničara imaju roditelji koji educiraju, motiviraju i kontroliraju svoju djecu pri četkanju zubi. Četkanje zubi je radnja pomoću koje se uklanja biofilm sa zubi, a može se vršiti uz cijeli spektar pomagala za održavanje oralne higijene. Veličina četkice prilagođena je dobnoj skupini djeteta kao i koncentracija fluora u pastama i ostalim preparatima koje dijete može koristiti pri čišćenju usne šupljine. Istraživanja su pokazala da je održavanje oralne higijene u Hrvatskoj i dalje na niskoj razini, što nam pokazuje niski KEP indeks. Zbog prije navedenog trebalo bi širu javnost osvijestiti o važnosti održavanja oralne higijene te o ulozi dentalnih higijeničara i stomatologa u svakodnevnom životu.
Abstract (english)
Oral health plays big role in overall health. To keep our oral health in good condition it is necessary to maintain quality oral hygiene and create good eating and living habits. Along with dentists and dental hygienists, parents play big role in maintaining oral health in children as they are educating, motivating and controlling their children while they are brushing their teeth. Brushing is the act of removing biofilm from the surface of the teeth along with many different tools for maintaining oral hygiene. The size of a toothbrush is adjusted with the age group of a child, along with the concentration of fluoride in toothpastes and other tools which a child can use while cleaning oral cavity. Researches show that keeping oral hygiene in Croatia is still at low levels which is confirmed by low KEP index. Because of everything previously stated it is very important to show the importance of dental hygiene to wider public, along with the importance of dental hygienists and dentists in everyday life.
