Abstract
Izraz LASER je akronim riječi „Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation“. Laser se sastoji od tri osnovna elementa: aktivnog medija, izvora energije i oscilatorskog prostora. Tipovi lasera su: rubinski, Nd:YAG, Ho:YAG, Er:YAG, Er:YSGG, CO2, Ar, HeNe, Excimer, diodni i dye. U restaurativnoj dentalnoj medicini upotrebljavaju se kod uklanjanja rastauracija i karijesa, polimerizacije, jetkanja i kondicioniranja, prevencije karijesa, dijagnostike karijesa, liječenje dentinske preosjetljivosti. U endodonciji se koriste za dezinfekciju, dijagnostiku, direktno i indirektno prekrivanje pulpe, pulpotomiju, liječenje periapikalnih lezija, reviziju, apikotomiju, zatvaranje apikalnog foramena, uklanjanje privremenih i trajnih ispuna iz kanala te za sterilizaciju endodontskih instrumenata. U parodontologiji se koriste za dekontaminacija, koagulacija, uklanjanje kamenca, liječenje gingivitisa, parodontitisa i periimplantitisa. Kirurgija koristi procese vaporizacije, ablacije, fototermolizu, eksciziju i inciziju. U ortodonciji su laseri našli svoju primjenu, kako na tvrdim, tako i na mekim tkivima, ali također i na izradi ortodontskih naprava. U oralnoj medicini laseri se koriste za liječenje aftoznog ulkusa, herpes simpleks virusne infekcije, mukozitisa, oralnog herpes zostera, eriteme multiforme i angularnog heilitisa. U fiksnoj i estetskoj protetici se koriste za jetkanje cakline pri postavljanju ljuskica, prikazivanje ruba preparacije, gingivektomija, produženje kliničke krune, izbjeljivanje zuba, uklanjanje pigmentacija i skeniranje CAD/CAM-om.

Phrase LASER is acronym from a „Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation“. Laser is composed out of three basic elements: active media, source of energy and resonant space. Types of lasers are: Nd:YAG, Ho:YAG, Er:YAG, Er:YSGG, CO2, Ar, HeNe, excimer, diode, dye. In restorative dentistry lasers can be used in: removing restorations and caries, polymerization, etching and conditioning, caries prevention, diagnostics, dentin hypersensity. In endodontic: disinfection, diagnostics, direct and indirect pulp capping, pulpotomy, treating periapical granuloma, revision, closing apical foramen, removing temporary and permanent root fillings, sterilization of endodontic instruments. In periodontology: decontamination, coagulation, removing calculus, gingivitis, periodontitis, and periimplantitis. Surgery uses processes of vaporization, ablation, phototermolisis, excision and incision. In orthodontics lasers have not only found use on hard and soft tissues but in making of orthodontic devices. LLL in oral medicine: treating aftos ulcerous, herpes simplex, mucositis, herpes zoster, erythema multiforme, angular cheilitis. In fixed prosthodontics and aesthetic dental medicine: enamel etching for veneers, gingival troughing, gingivectomy, crown lengthening, teeth whitening, pigmentation removing, CAD/CAM scanning.
