Abstract
Karijes rane dječje dobi je pojam koji označava pojavu karijesa u dobi od 0-3 godine, najčešće na mjestima koja inače nisu podložna karijesu, ponajprije na mliječnim gornjim središnjim sjekutićima. U ispitivanje je bilo uključeno 127 djece, od toga 65 dječaka i 62 djevojčice, u dobi od dvije do šest godina. Svi su polaznici dva vrtića: DV „Dobri“ i DV „Marjan“, podružnica DV „Koralj“, oba na području grada Splita, Hrvatska. Klinički pregled ispitanika je proveden pod prirodnim svjetlom, od strane jednog kvalificiranog ispitivača, kojem je pomagao asistent. Ispitivanje je provedeno vizualnim ne-taktilnim načinom, uobičajeno nazvanim „lift the lip“ tehnikom. Svi oralni pregledi su provedeni unutar vrtića. Inspekcijom usne šupljine zabilježio se: broj zuba, prisutnost nesaniranih zuba s karijesom (k), te zuba s ispunima (p) objedinjenih kp indeksom, prema standardima SZO. Prosječni kp indeks je 2.49. KIO indeks je 52.76%. Prisutnost karijesa bočice u populaciji zastupljena je sa 18.11%, a najčešće su zahvaćeni mliječni gornji incizivi. Karijes se evidentno povećava kako predškolska djeca rastu. Izračunati pokazatelji prevalencije karijesa ove studije nisu zadovoljavajući obzirom na preporuke SZO.
Abstract (english)
Term early childhood caries refers to appearance of caries at the age of 0-3, most commonly on surfaces that are not usually caries susceptible, primary upper central incisors. The study population comprised of 127 children, 65 boys and 62 girls, aged 2 – 6 years, all attending two daycare centers: „Dobri“ i „Marjan“, subsidiary „Koralj“, both located in Split,Croatia. Clinical examinations were carried out under natural light, by a single examiner, trained and calibrated, who was helped by an assistant. The examination was conducted in a visual non–tactile manner commonly referred to as „lift the lip“ technique. All oral examinations were carried out within the daycare centers. By the oral examination registered parameters were number of teeth, presence of untreated tooth decays (d) and filled teeth (f), comprised in dft index, according to WHO standards. The mean dft index is 2.49. KIO index is 52.76 %. The prevalence of baby bottle caries in the study population was 18.11% and the most commonly affected teeth were primary upper central incisors. The caries prevalence increases as preschool children grow. The indicators of caries prevalence found in the study are not satisfying considering the WHO guidelines.
