Abstract
Legionela je bakterija kojoj je primarno stanište u vodenim sredinama, a od njih se posebno ističu umjetno stvorena staništa kao što su bazeni, gradske fontane, klima uređaji i slično. Najveći rizik predstavljaju slijepi krajevi cijevi gdje se legionela nastani u obliku kolonija, ali mogu stvarati i izrazito otpornu strukturu kao što je biofilm, osim navedenih rizika, potencijalnu prijetnju stvara i legionelino parazitiranje unutar amebe. Kroz ovo istraživanje praćeno je preživljavanje različitih sojeva Legionella pneumophila, odnosno vrsta legionela u uzorku morske vode. U pokusu je korišteno dvanaest različitih sojeva L. pneumophila te vrste L. bozemanii, L. anisa i L. longbeachae. Iz rezultata se može donijeti zaključak da različiti sojevi L. pneumophila mogu preživjeti morskoj vodi do 7 dana, neovisno o tome da li je riječ kliničkim ili okolišnim rezultatima. Suprotno tome, druge vrste ne preživljavaju u morskoj vodi i već unutar 24 sata ih ne možemo dokazati. Zaključno, morska voda može biti izvor legioneloza ovisno o vrsti i količini bakterija koje se u njoj nalaze.
Abstract (english)
Legionella is a bacteria which primary residence is in water, from which stand out artificially created residence, like pools, fontains, air conditioners and similar. The greatest risk are blind ends of tube where legionella lives in the form of colonies, but they can make extremely resistant form like biofilm, expect those risks, potential threat make also legionella´s parasitism inside amoeba. Through this research it was monitored the survival of different Legionella pneumophila strains and other Legionella species in a seawater sample. In the experiment was used twelve different L. pneumophila strains and species L. bozemanii, L. anisa, and L. longbeachae. From results, we can see that different layers of L.pneumophila can survive in sea water for up to seven days independently of clinical or environmental results. Opposite of that, other species do not survive in seawater and within 24 hours we can not prove them. In conclusion sea water can be a source of legionellosis, depending on the species and amount of bacteria contained in it.
