Abstract
BMP-7 pripada skupini koštanih morfogenetskih proteina koji pripadaju superobitelji TGFβ . Unatoč nazivu, njihovo je djelovanje prošireno na puno organa i tkiva , pa tako i na bubreg u kojem BMP-7 ima protektivnu ulogu, doprinosi regeneraciji i smanjuje fibrozu koja dovodi do kroničnog bubrežnog zatajenja. Očuvanje pravilne strukture i arhitekture tkiva izrazito je važno za očuvanje uredne funkcije organa. Brojna su stanja i bolesti koje dovode do fibroze bubrežnog parenhima ,a incidencija i prevalencija nekih od njih izrazito je velika, ne samo u Hrvatskoj, već u cijelom svijetu. To je slučaj sa šećernom bolešću, hipertenzijom i pijelonefritisom. Druge bolesti kao lupus nefritis , Alportov sindrom itd. isto su značajne i dovode do fibroze i afunkcionalnosti , iako je njihova pojavnost rjeđa. BMP-7 u svojem rekombinantnom obliku mogao bi predstavljati novu razinu liječenja bolesti za koje je sada dostupno samo liječenje u vidu dijalize, koja značajno smanjuje kvalitetu života i transplantacije, koja nije dostupna svima i nerijetko dođe do odbacivanja presatka
Abstract (english)
BMP-7 belongs to a group of bone morphogenic proteins which is the part of the superfamily of TGFβ. Despite the name, their function has been extended to a wide range of organs and tissues, including the kidneys in which BMP-7 plays a protective role, contributes to regeneration and reduces fibrosis leading to chronic renal failure. Preserving the proper structure and tissue architecture is important to maintain proper organ function. There are numerous situations and diseases which lead to fibrous renal parenchyma. The incidence and prevalence of some of them are remarkably large, not only in Croatia but throughout the world. This is the case with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and pyelonephritis. Other illnesses such as lupus nephritis, Alport's syndrome, etc. are significant and lead to fibrosis and nonfunctional tissue even though their occurrence is not so often. BMP-7 in its recombinant form could represent a new level of disease treatment. Now treatment for those diseases are dialysis and transplantation. Dialysis significantly reduces the quality of life and transplantation is unavailable to everyone and often leads to graft rejection.
