Abstract
Ovim istraživanjem u in vitro uvjetima ispitana je učinkovitost uklanjanja zaostatnog sloja nakon kemijsko – mehaničke obrade korijenskog kanala uporabom 17% - tne otopine EDTA –e u vremenskom trajanju od 1 i 5 minuta. U istraživanju je rabljeno 15 jednokorijenskih dekoroniranih zubi podijeljenih u 3 grupe po 5 zubi. Zubi su instrumentirani step – back tehnikom uz irigaciju 2,5% - tnim natrij hipokloritom i 17% - tnom EDTA – om. Prva grupa je bila kontrolna grupa u kojoj nije korištena EDTA, u drugoj grupi EDTA je korištena kroz 1 minutu, te u trećoj kroz 5 minuta. Obrađeni zubi su fiksirani u kalupe od prozirnog autoakrilata,rezani dijamantnom brusnom pločom, te podvrgnuti mikroskopskoj analizi, fotografiranju i statističkoj obradi. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su zadovoljavajući učinak EDTA –e u uklanjanju zaostatnog sloja kroz 5 minuta kojima je potvrđena optimalna učinkovitost uklanjanja zaostatnog sloja pomoću 17% - tne otopine EDTA–e.

The aim of this in vitro research was to examine the efficiency of removing the smear layer after chemical and mechanic treatment of the root canal using 17% solution EDTA in duration between 1 to 5 minutes. In the research 15 decoronated teeth with single root divided in 3 groups of 5 were used. Teeth were instrumented using step-back technique and irrigated with 2, 5% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA. The first group was the control group, in which no EDTA was used, in the second group EDTA was used in duration of 1 minute and in the third group during 5 minutes. Treated teeth were fixed in moulds of transparent autoacrylate, were split and then underwent the examination with the microscope, photographing and statistical analysis. The results showed satisfactory effect of EDTA in removing smear layer throughout 5 minutes which confirmed the optimal efficiency of smear layer removal with 17% EDTA.
