Abstract
Među najčešće nuspojave korištenja AAS spadaju pojava ginekomastije, akne, ćelavost, inhibicija lučenja vlastitog testosterona, oštećenja jetre i bubrega, oštećenje krožilnog sustava, neurotoksičnost i promjena imunološkog sistema.

Parallel abstract (English)
Popularity of anabolic androgenic steroids ( AAS ) in last thirty years has been in steady rise. Although AAS, with proper training, can dramatically increase physical strength, side effects that can occur after using them for longer time can be extremely dangerous for overall health of their users, depending primarily on their genetical predispositions and number of AR receptors on cells. The most common side effects of longer AAS usage are: gynecomastia, acne, baldness, inhibition of normal testosterone levels, damage to liver and kidneys, damage to cardiovascular system, neurotoxicity and changes to immune system. The subject of study was to see how much are students informed about AAS. This study was conducted by written survey papers that were divided between 100 students of Medical college and 100 students of Maritime college in town of Rijeka. The goal of this paper was to compare knowledge of AAS side effects between students and give a brief overview of students thoughts if AAS are major public health problem. From survey results it can be seen that Medical college students are more familiar with AAS side effects. Most students are partially informed about AAS in general, mostly through online sources. Although AAS don't pose major public health issue, better informing of population about them would o a long way into preventing their misuse.
