Abstract
Terapijske opcije kod neoplazme u području glave i vrata su kirurški zahvat, radioterapija i kemoterapija. Radioterapija je poštedna u odnosu na tkivo, za razliku od kirurških zahvata, koji često imaju značajan mutilirajući ishod u pogledu estetike i funkcije. Biološki učinak radioterapije nije selektivan za maligne stanice te u toku terapije nastaju brojni neželjeni učinci koji su prema vremenu pojave svrstani u rane i kasne. Rani neželjeni učinci radioterapije u području glave i vrata su mučnina i povraćanje, oralni mukozitis, kserostomija, promjene okusa, sekundarne infekcije, edem i bol. Kasni su radijacijski karijes, osteoradionekroza, fibroza, trizam i kronična kserostomija. Svrha ovog rada bila je kroz pregled objavljene literature proučiti mogućnosti i uspješnost terapije oralnih komplikacija koje nastaju kao posljedica radioterapije u onkoloških bolesnika. Preventivne i terapijske mogućnosti su širokog spektra, dokazano su učinkovite i omogućuju onkološkim bolesnicima kvalitetniji život. Naglasak je na prevenciji neželjenih učinaka. U preventivnim i terapijskim opcijama uočljiv je naglasak na adekvatnoj oralnoj higijeni.
Abstract (english)
Therapeutic options for treatment of head and neck carcinoma are surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy is tissue sparing unlike surgical approach, which has considerable mutilating effect od estetic and function. Biologic effect of radiotherapy is not selective for cancer cells and causes many side effects which are divided, by the time of onset, in early and late ones. Early side effects are nausea and vomiting, oral mucositis, xerostomia, changes in taste, secondary infections, edema and pain. Late side effects are radiation caries, osteoradionecrosis, fibrosis, trismus and chronic xerostomia. The goal of this graduate work was to explore possibilities and efficacy in management of radiotherapy induced oral complications in oncological patients. Preventive and therapeutic options for radiotherapy induced oral complications are broad spectrum and proven to be effective, so they improve the quality of life in cancer patients. Prevention is very important. In preventive and therapeutic options the emphasis is on adequate oral hygiene.
