Abstract
Ovim radom prikazani su uzroci halitoze, tj. neugodnog zadaha koji može biti endogen ili egzogen te načini i metode dijagnostike i liječenja. U više od 87 % slučajeva uzrok je u oralnoj šupljini, tj. halitozu uzrokuju bolesti gingive ili peridonata, kariozni zubi ili određene namirnice. Za utvrđivanje točne djagnoze potrebni su nam podaci o početku i trajanju halitoze te klinički pregled. Prilikom pregleda koristimo halimetar ili sumporni monitor, elektronski aparat koji analizira koncentraciju plinova koji uzrokuju loš zadah. Zadah iz usta povezan je s lošim oralnim zdravljem te kod pacijenta kod kojih se ustanovi halitoza moraju se ukloniti ti uzroci pravilnom terapijom. Prilikom liječenja potrebno je izbjegavati lako hlapljive namirnice, pojačati oralnu higijenu, a kod pacijenata sa paradontološkim bolestima provesti terapiju parodontološku terapiju. Veoma je važno terapijski djelovati na primarni uzrok halitoze te liječiti osnovnu bolest. Ukoliko je uzrok halitoze egzogen potrebno je pacijenta uputiti na daljnji pregled kod otorinolaringologa, gastroeneterologa ili psihologa, odnosno psihijatra.
Abstract (english)
This paper presents the causes of halitosis (bad breath) which may be endogenous or exogenous, and the ways and methods of diagnosis and treatment. In more than 87% of cases the cause is in the oral cavity, ie, halitosis is caused by gingival or periodontal disease, decayed teeth or certain foods. To determine the correct diagnose we need the information about the beginning and duration of halitosis and clinical examination. In clinical examination the halimetar or sulfur monitor, an electronic device that analyzes the concentration of gases that cause bad breath are used. Halitosis is associated with poor oral health and in patients with halitosis, these causes should be removed with proper therapy. It is recommended to avoid a volatile foods, to improve oral care, and periodontal treatment when needed. It is important to effect on the primary cause of halitosis and to treat the underlying disease. If the cause of halitosis is exogenous the patient should be refered for further examination by otolaryngologists, gastroenterologists or a psychologist or psychiatrist.
