Abstract (Croatian)
Abstract (English)
The nutritional assessment is part of preventive and curative pediatric care. There are several methods available for the nutritional assessment, but simpler tools have a surprisingly high degree of sensitivity. Our pilot-project shows results of the anthropometric examination of children hospitalised at the Gastroenterology Department of the Rijeka Hospital Clinic for Children “Kantrida” using body mass index – BMI. Since most of our patients are from the surrounding area where the primary pediatric care has always been well organized, most of the hospitalised children were in a normal nutritional condition. However, we found 14% of undernourished children, which means that malnutrition is still present. The nutritional assessment is an important factor in the pediatric care of both healthy and ill children
